Following the complaint made yesterday morning on Radio Lanzarote by a resident of Arrecife regarding the traffic closure, apparently improper, of Jaén, Huelva and Chafarís streets for the performance of some works, the councilor of Alternativa Ciudadana 25 de Mayo in the Arrecife City Council, Andrés Barreto, commented on the air of the island's leading radio station that his formation is and will always be available to channel all kinds of complaints from citizens.

"If we can help from Alternativa Ciudadana to solve this type of problems" we will always be there, the councilor stressed. "I do not think that citizens have to grab these angers, even on the verge of a heart attack, because either the police are not told what to do or because the councilor on duty does not do what he should do."

In this regard, Barreto stressed that "Alternativa Ciudadana has an office in the Arrecife City Council open to the public all morning and all the complaints that citizens want to put there, that the two councilors of AC will take care" to find a solution to the conflict.

Situation of the streets of Arrecife

Barreto recalled that in the penultimate plenary session in the capital Alternativa denounced through motions this situation with the streets of Arrecife, criticizing that there are "street closures without prior notice, without signs, without fences, without anything, and also the use of public roads in a blatant way, where citizens can not pass".

The situation denounced by Abel Barreto "occurs every two by three in La Coruña street, which is a closed circuit, which has no exit, and every so often I find that to get out of there you have to go in the wrong direction, because some gentlemen close the streets, and do not communicate the closure to anyone, which forces drivers to go in the wrong direction, risking the lives of others and ours", Barreto related his own experience as a resident of Arrecife.

Strictly prohibited

In this regard, the progressive councilor recalled that "it is strictly forbidden by law to occupy the public road without leaving a passage for pedestrians".

An even more egregious case, and undoubtedly completely incomprehensible, is the management of the fords that is being carried out by the local Consistory of the capital.

It is really surprising that there are residents in Arrecife who for months have requested that a ford be placed in their garages, and so far the City Council has not managed it. Taking into account the chronic lack of economic resources of the Consistory and the fact that the fords are paid and are clearly a profit for the municipality, it is incredible that "a ford is not given, because this is collection".
