An agreement until the end of this year definitively ends the strike of the Tourist Centers workers

The Board of Directors of the Local Business Public Entity of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo (CACT) ratified this Tuesday the agreement reached last Friday in the Canary Labor Court with the CACT workers on the negotiation of the collective agreement. This definitively ends the strike initiated on May 1 by the employees, with a document that is valid until the end of this year.

After a negotiation that concluded in a work stoppage by the workers that finally lasted three days, the parties agreed in the Labor Court to an increase in the vacation fund of 900 euros retroactively from August 1, 2006, an increase in school aid to Infant and Primary education to 60 euros, for Secondary Education 90 euros and in the case of university students 300 euros and the temporary disability remains as reflected in the agreement.

On the other hand, it was agreed to jointly analyze the situation of economic viability of the personnel transport service and to launch a commission to study the proposal for the calculation of the working day.

After the ratification, the area counselor, Pedro San Ginés, explained that it is an agreement "that I am satisfied with." Thus, the responsible party indicated that he hopes that these types of events will not happen again "due to the damage to the image of the Island." And although there is only one claim to the Tourist Centers, the entity is aware of the numerous complaints filed with car rental companies and hotels.
