The Nationalist Youth of Lanzarote (JNL) and the Lánzate LGTBI+ Association celebrated this Thursday "with success" the I Conference "Dethroning taboos, conquering freedoms".

The event, held on Thursday night at the Indiera Hall in Tías, was starring the Canarian actress and activist for LGTBI rights, Lorenza Machín Alarcón and was characterized "by its great emotion", according to the island secretary of the JNL, Sara Bermúdez, who highlighted "the courage, sacrifice and defense of women's rights", among the qualities of Machín. "She has vindicated LGTBI rights but, above all, she has been and is a life example for women, an example as a free human being," she said.

The life and feelings of Lorenza Machín are fully reflected in her book 'Aurora y Ocaso', where she tells the love story between two women, and in her short film 'Reflejos de sol', which she was able to present to the attendees of the conference, among whom, together with Sara Bermúdez, were David Toledo, general secretary of the Nationalist Youth of the Canary Islands, Edgar Núñez from the Lánzate collective and Yeray Castellano, deputy general secretary of the JNC and member of the LGTBI Commission of the party.

A society "in which no one is singled out for their sexual orientation"

The event organized by the Nationalist Youth also included the presence of organic and public positions of Coalición Canaria Lanzarote such as the island secretary, Migdalia Machín, the local secretaries of Arrecife, Haría, Tinajo and Tías or the candidates for the mayoralties of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio and Tías, Amado Vizcaíno, among others.
