The fresh cheese from Granja San Roque, the semi-cured cheese from the Guatisea cheese factory and the cured cheese from Finca de Uga have won first place in their respective categories, within the third edition of the Uga Island Cheese Tasting Contest. In addition to these, the Guinate cheese factory, in fresh cheese, Finca de Uga, in semi-cured, and the Filo El Cuchillo cheese factory, with its cured cheese, obtained the second prizes. Among the novelties of this year, the representation of cheeses from La Palma, as a guest island, has stood out, according to the Island Corporation.

This event has been organized by the Lanzarote Council, through the area of Agriculture, Livestock and Economic Promotion led by Antonio Morales, together with the Yaiza Town Hall, chaired by the mayor Gladys Acuña. In this edition, the event has also had the collaboration of the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA) of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Association of Artisan Cheese Makers of Lanzarote (AQUAL).
