"The Molina Orosa Hospital is perfectly prepared for the coronavirus." This was stated by the head of the Epidemiology and Prevention Service of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Canary Islands Health Service, Amós García, who stressed that so far no positive case has been detected in Lanzarote.

In this regard, in an extensive interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, García explained that "a very special structure is not needed to manage the care of the positives either." "It is not like Ebola, which did require a very special health structure. In this case, any normal room, logically isolated from the rest, can serve," said the head of Epidemiology of Public Health of the Canary Islands.

In addition, Amós García insisted that "fortunately, the positives that have required hospital admission in the Canary Islands can be counted on the fingers of one hand." "All the cases we have are imported and a correct traceability has been made of them", said the head of Epidemiology of the Canary Islands, who has explained the differences in the situation of the archipelago with the one experienced in Madrid or Vitoria, where the educational centers have been closed.

Likewise, the head of Epidemiology of Public Health of the Canary Islands has also detailed the reason for the containment measures that are being taken against the coronavirus. "I think things are being done reasonably well," he said.

On the other hand, Amós García has shown his concern about the "unnecessary" social alarm that is being generated, as well as the "dramatic economic impact" and the "racist manifestations towards those affected" that are being recorded. "It worries us powerfully," he said.
