The Argana Viva Neighborhood Movement Association has started collecting signatures to demand the cessation of "abuses" by Canal Gestión Lanzarote.
In its initiative, the group assures that "dozens of users on the island are allegedly receiving exorbitant bills, which do not correspond to their level of water consumption." In addition, it states that "thousands of other users do not receive an adequate water supply," suffering "continuous water cuts and breakdowns that are repeated over and over again" such as "pressure and air problems in the pipes, which would be partially solved by installing a bleeder or membrane in each installation."
The Argana Viva Neighborhood Movement Association also criticizes "the absence of a body that enforces consumer rights," which it claims is "generating a problem of dissatisfaction, impotence, and discomfort among citizens."
The group recalls that "an investment has supposedly been made to improve the water distribution network," but states that "the reality is that there is still a loss of more than 50% of the water that is produced." "Faced with this situation, there is no response," the group emphasizes, pointing out that the customer service of Canal Gestión Lanzarote "does not offer adequate answers" and "forces users to go to court."
Argana Viva also criticizes the actions of the Insular Water Consortium, as it assures that "it does not provide adequate solutions to users, nor does it sanction the concessionaire company, nor does it supervise its work in case it is breaching its contract."
For all these reasons, the group has started collecting signatures through the change.org platform to demand that Canal Gestión Lanzarote and, before the Insular Water Consortium, cease the "abuses" to subscribers and "get to work on a substantial improvement of the drinking water supply service."
