Cáritas of Lanzarote will have a better equipped shelter, after the members of Rotary Club donated a sum to this NGO to remodel the facility. The improvement and adaptation works of the house, located on La Palma street, have been carried out in recent months, according to a statement from this association.

Responding to a direct request from Cáritas, the Rotarians of Lanzarote have donated about 6,000 euros for the improvement and equipment of this shelter, which will allow assistance and accommodation for families without resources. This new aid from the members of Rotary Club Lanzarote joins the donation of about two tons of food for families without resources or who are going through economic difficulties due to the crisis. This food has been distributed in homes, under the direct supervision of Cáritas.

According to Rotary Club, since its creation in 1991, this association has "permanently" helped Cáritas. "The current social canteen and parish hall next to the Church of San Ginés has been remodeled and equipped thanks to the solidarity aid of Rotary," he said.

Aid to other groups

Likewise, the Rotarians have reinforced their social aid to Calor y Café, which together with Cáritas oversees the only two social canteens in Lanzarote. During this year, Rotary has guaranteed "about 5,000 solidarity menus" to the NGO managed by Sor Ana.

In the coming days, Cáritas is scheduled to hold an open house to show this shelter in Arrecife, in which, in addition to Rotary, other companies and citizens of the island have collaborated for its rehabilitation and equipment.
