Some of the people in charge of the stalls in the Ramírez Cerdá park market gathered this Friday at the Arrecife City Council to protest the new location that the City Council wants to give to the market, in the Charco de San Ginés.

The merchants point out that during this week, on the occasion of the Book Fair, they were moved from the Ramírez Cerdá Park to the Charco, in theory, in a "provisional" manner, but they regret that this Thursday, the City Council notified them through a circular that this would be their new place of sale. The sellers are afraid of losing customers. "We want the market in the Ramírez Cerdá Park, we have been there for five years, and now that people had become accustomed to buying there, they go and tell us that they are changing our location," says Ángeles Carmona, a seller in a clothing stall.

Ana Carmona and Juan Carmona, who also have clothing stalls, share the same opinion. "People were used to us being in the Ramírez Cerdá Park and out of the blue they tell us that they are changing our location," Juan complains.

In addition to being worried about the clientele, the sellers emphasize that there is not enough space in the Charco. "This week many of us have not gone to the market because there was not enough space for everyone," explains Ángeles.

Thus, the City Council will hold a meeting with them this Monday to specify the issues related to this change of location. Likewise, the sellers point out that the City Council has explained to them that they will have the alternative of choosing between three different places to set up the market.
