The Las Cabreras day center for the elderly has closed its doors after a worker tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement that the center has sent to users, it is explained that the worker "is doing well, asymptomatic" and it is reported that the day center will remain closed "until further notice."

According to the Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, Marcos Bergaz, the worker was infected "in the family environment", but it has been decided to close the center until all employees have been PCR tested. The closure only affects the day center and not the residence since, according to Bergaz, the affected person "had no contact" with the staff of the residence.

In this regard, it should be remembered that, last March, the positive result of a health worker from the Domingo Guzmán-Las Cabreras Residence, which is owned by the Cabildo but managed by the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients and other dementias of Lanzarote (AFA). forced the evacuation of the center for disinfection, and three other infections were later confirmed, one of a nurse and two of users.
