Lanzarote is the only island in the Archipelago that is not suffering from yellow warnings for coastal phenomena or maximum temperatures forecast for the Canary Islands this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However, strong gusts of wind, heat and haze will accompany the island, at least, in the first part of the week.
For the afternoon of this Monday, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) estimates skies partly cloudy or clear with the presence of haze at altitude. Likewise, on the southern slope of the island it is expected that 30 to 32 degrees may be exceeded.
Meanwhile, from Tuesday, the north and west of the island will begin to suffer cloudy intervals. The wind will be moderate from the northeast with some strong intervals that will intensify at night, when some occasionally very strong gusts are expected, especially in inland areas.
According to these estimates, for this Monday, the municipality most affected by the wind will be Tías, where maximum gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour are expected. However, the rest of the localities do not escape the wind, with the highest gusts expected in Yaiza exceeding 60 kilometers per hour and around 50 kilometers/hour in Arrecife, Teguise and Haría.
In the early hours of Tuesday, the wind will blow stronger and leave maximum gusts of up to 92 kilometers per hour in Tías, with an average of 60 kilometers per hour, and 87 in Yaiza. It will also be very strong in Arrecife with up to 72 kilometers per hour and an average of 46 kilometers per hour.
Looking ahead to Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, the gusts of wind will decrease but will continue to be around 30 kilometers per hour throughout the island.
For Wednesday, Aemet estimates that there will be intervals of cloud cover in Lanzarote. That day the presence of haze at altitude will begin to subside.
