Juggling and flavor at the XXVII Island Cocktail Competition

Manuel Fornier Rivera has been proclaimed as the best barman on the island during the XXVII Island Cocktail Competition for Head Bartenders and Young Bartenders. The event was held on Friday night in the halls of the San Antonio de Tías hotel. This is a competition framed in the national competition that will take place in Mallorca next November. A total of 17 bartenders participated in Lanzarote, creating suggestive combinations for several hours.

The competition went beyond an original creation of flavors, and the presentation of the glasses was almost as important as the flavor. In fact, the winner presented his glass on a small fish tank so that the client can taste the combination while observing the movement of the fish.

The event was very crowded, not only by participants but also by the presence of friends and family who came to the hotel to give their support and taste the cocktails. Once the test was finished, the attendees moved to the large dining room of the hotel to enjoy a buffet dinner that led to the awards ceremony in order of classification.

This year in the national competition, Manuel Fornier will represent the head bartenders, and Lilizar Barceló Wilson will be in the Young Bartender category, two hoteliers who are making a strong impression in this area of the restaurant industry. The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rita Martín; the president of the National Bartenders Association, José Dioni; the island president of the Association, Wenceslado Gil; and representatives of the management of the San Antonio hotel and the Councilor for Festivities of the Tías City Council, Alfonso Gopar, among others.
