Teguise experienced a new folklore gathering of the La Gran Aldea Association this Saturday night, which in its eighteenth edition featured the participation of the Jardín de Corvo de Moya Folklore Association and Miguel Gil de Firgas.

The two groups from the island of Gran Canaria were the first to take the stage, followed by the host group, La Gran Aldea, in a folklore gathering framed within the San Antonio de Los Valles festivities, which also served as a tribute and recognition to one of the most emblematic associations of the municipality of Teguise, Los Diabletes.

The history of this popular tradition was recounted during the festival by Francisco Hernández, Official Chronicler of Teguise, to whom the founder of La Gran Aldea, -a group that has been around for more than 20 years-, Marcial Cabrera, presented a silver detail with the silhouette of the diablete.

The folklore groups from Gran Canaria thanked for the invitation to the meeting and presented a gift to the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, who congratulated all the members of musical and dance groups of the Archipelago "for keeping alive our symbols of identity and for continuing to spread the folklore culture of the Canary Islands, so rich, varied and with so much personality".

The XVII La Gran Aldea Encounter said goodbye with a new performance by the dance groups, who said goodbye offering a selection of the most popular songs and dances to the attending public, who also enjoyed a tasting of typical products of the land to close the evening.
