Costa Teguise closed its festivities with the placement of the time capsule underground next to the Civic Center, in a very familiar act that closed the first recreational-festive event in the town. These first Costa Teguise festivities, which arose from a citizen initiative, have brought the residents together for a week in different settings to celebrate a program of activities for all audiences, with workshops, exhibitions, sports, gastronomy, board games, dances and music.
As a closing of the festivities, the time capsule was buried this Sunday with everyday objects from the residents of Costa Teguise, such as toys and stickers from the little ones, newspapers, photographs, the program of the festivities and some messages, among other curiosities. All this to be discovered within 15 years, allowing the residents of the year 2030 to take a trip back in time.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, participated in the symbolic act, keeping in the capsule a letter dedicated to the residents of Costa Tegusie who will discover this chest with treasures from the past and that "symbolizes the beginning of a new coexistence", declared Betancort, who congratulated the promoters of the idea of "sowing culture, wealth and social well-being today, so that the new generations can collect it within 15 years".
"Costa Teguise has experienced these days a magnificent opportunity for the social cohesion of a residential and tourist area, and I hope that these festivities will be consolidated over time and have an exquisite and active participation of all the residents", concluded the mayor.
