Canal Gestión Lanzarote will transfer to La Graciosa "the largest drinking water tank it has", to try to alleviate the supply problem that the eighth island is suffering again, and that still has no solution date.
"Starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, citizens who need it can go to this tank to refill bottles or containers to stock up on drinking water, as long as the repair of the submarine pipeline is not addressed and the supply is restored normally," the company says.
From Canal they affirm that it is "the only possible solution" and that they have transferred it to the Teguise City Council, so as not to leave the island "without a minimum supply."
For the moment, on Tuesday, supply water will only be supplied "by zones and only from 8 to 10 in the morning," given that reserves are running out. According to forecasts, from that moment on the water will stop running through the pipes, as the deposits run out of stock. From there and until the breakdown is repaired, homes and businesses will be left without supply.
The way to access drinking water will be in that tank, transferred on the afternoon of this Monday and with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters. The tank has several taps on its sides, through which "bottles or any other container can be refilled, according to the needs of the residents."
"This tank will be continuously refilled with a tank that will be traveling between Lanzarote and La Graciosa aboard a barge, permanently, and until the moment the breakdown is resolved and the usual supply can be restored," adds Canal.
"Once the emergency plan designed by Canal Gestión Lanzarote and in coordination with the Teguise City Council has been communicated, the residents who need it can go to the aforementioned tank that will be located in the Caleta de Sebo dike," adds the company, which asks citizens for "collaboration so that the manual supply is carried out with order and concert, in the conviction that even if it is not the most optimal solution, for the moment it is the only one that can moderately solve the possible shortages of drinking water that will be registered in these days in La Graciosa."
