The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, has requested this Monday an urgent meeting to resolve "the umpteenth water crisis" in La Graciosa. "We already warned about it in its day, and we asked again last week in the face of such a serious situation that leaves the Eighth Island without water," said Betancort.

After Canal Gestión confirmed that the submarine pipeline has suffered its sixth break so far this year, and given its warning to the Lanzarote Water Consortium that this situation needed an urgent replacement of the aforementioned pipeline, the City Council has once again sent an official request for a meeting to address "the serious and dramatic situation that the residents of La Graciosa are suffering".

"This has just been confirmed by Canal Gestión, which is also waiting for the Insular Consortium to definitively resolve the supply problem, but in the meantime, Teguise is coordinating with the company to activate an emergency plan as soon as possible and be able to supply water to the island's residents," adds the mayor.

Although Canal Gestión has communicated its intention to review the point of the break to determine its severity, Teguise considers "this plan urgent so that the supply problem is solved immediately, since the tanks will be emptied in a few hours".

On the other hand, the City Council insists that it will report, through the Local Police, each incident in the supply, cuts and breakdowns, for which it will draw up a report and record "the multiple deficiencies to transfer them to the Insular Consortium".
