The latest sessions of the Teguise Town Hall Procurement Board have resulted in the awarding of public tenders for the implementation of new infrastructure in the municipality, in this case, for the execution of three works assigned to the first year of the Teguise Tourism Excellence Plan.

The actions, as explained in a press release by the Technical Office of the Town Hall itself, presided over by Juan Pedro Hernández, and which will become a reality before the end of this year, correspond to the construction of a tourist information office in Costa Teguise, the supply and installation of underground containers in the Villa de Teguise and in the tourist development, and the removal of architectural barriers and conditioning of the bandstand in the Plaza del Pueblo Marinero. The three projects total an investment of 403,000 euros.

The works will begin after the summer and the completion forecasts are as follows: the renovation of the bandstand, in 67 days; the placement of underground containers, in 45 days; and the construction of the tourist information office of Costa Teguise, in 67 days.

Tourism Excellence Plan

On July 5 of last year, the Collaboration Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, the Tourism Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Teguise Town Hall and the Union for the Conservation of Costa Teguise, for the development of a Tourism Excellence Plan in the Municipality of Teguise.

The Program of the Excellence Plans as well as those of Tourism Dynamization, both promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism and Commerce, has led to the implementation of a new tourism culture in Spain and a clear example of successful cooperation between the different Public Administrations.

The projects included in the Tourism Excellence Plans are not large investments in basic infrastructure nor do they replace the different public service actions, although they are actions within these two contexts. What it is about in a Tourism Excellence Plan is to complement these global improvements with the care of small details easily recognizable and very directly perceived by the tourist, trying to provide a more tourist content to investments in infrastructure and the provision of services.

The Tourism Excellence Plan for the municipality of Teguise comes at a good time for the benefit of the tourism sector and the town itself. Teguise is being threatened by the growth of new tourist areas whose development, much more recent, is being done from other premises more in line with current demand trends. Faced with this situation, the Teguise Tourism Excellence Plan and, specifically, its actions for Costa Teguise, should be oriented to the recovery of this tourist area for our visitors and residents as a quality destination, standards under which this urbanization was created.

On the other hand, the Cadastre department of the Teguise Town Hall is focusing these days on promoting the telephone service of the Regional Cadastre Management among the citizens. This service is a valid reference to expedite the consultations of the residents as it facilitates the administrative steps to follow and the precise documentation to process different types of files without having to travel to the cadastral offices of the corporations.

The contact route also allows for prior appointments for those residents who need to travel to the Management located in Gran Canaria in case their files cannot be processed with the same speed from the Council of Teguise.
