The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, attended this Wednesday the solemn mass in honor of the Virgen de Los Dolores, on the day of the patron saint of Lanzarote. He was accompanied by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, María Dolores Corujo, and the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, in addition to other political members of the island.
The president celebrated what he considers "a great day for Lanzarote and the Canary Islands", highlighting the possibility of holding a mass with an audience in the street, after the suspension last year. "I am sure that next year people will fill the church, because we will be in a better situation", Torres said.
In addition, he took the opportunity to highlight the progress of vaccination in Lanzarote, which is close to 80%, something he considers essential for the return to normality in the holidays. "Fortunately, we are recovering our smile day by day", the president asserted.
Ángel Víctor Torres took the opportunity to remember the legend of the Virgen de Los Dolores, in some difficult days for the island of La Palma, at risk due to volcanic activity. "May this serve to appeal to the island of La Palma that things will get better," he concluded.
