The passion for two-wheeled motorized vehicles is also represented on the Island, as the Nómadas Motorcycle Club (which turns 8 years old in November) has already established itself as the leading organizer of motorcycle rallies in Lanzarote, managing to gather about 300 bikers during the past days of October 17, 18, and 19 at the Arrecife Fairgrounds in the XIII Lanzarote Motorcycle Rally, an event that has more and more followers.

Hundreds of fans and curious onlookers gathered since last Friday to witness firsthand the annual rally that the motorcycle club holds on the Island, an event that is often repeated two or three times in the same year and is attended by motorcycle clubs from different parts of the national geography. This time, fans from Fuerteventura and Las Palmas attended, joining the 180 bikers who currently make up the Nómadas Motorcycle Club, with eight years of history behind them.

"We usually organize these rallies to bring all the bikers together, exchange experiences, and at the same time showcase the latest developments related to the world of motorcycles in various stands," says José Bruno Ramírez, president of the Nómadas Motorcycle Club of Lanzarote and one of the event organizers.

At the rally, all types of motorcycle models could be seen, from the "smallest" 125 cubic centimeters to the highest engine sizes, with a notable presence of the latest models from each brand.

"During the year, we usually organize several excursions and activities in the club. We also attend other rallies organized by other clubs, and then we also meet at the ones we organize," says José Bruno, who assures that the atmosphere among bikers is one of absolute "camaraderie" and "good vibes."

This motorcycle club, despite not being the only one on the Island, is the largest and most "open" in terms of motorized disciplines, as there is no common denominator among its motorcycle models.

"In other clubs on the Island, which are less numerous, specialization in a specific activity is often common, such as the case of motocross clubs or some type of specific motorcycle," explain from the Nómadas Motorcycle Club, from where they also assure that "all bikers usually know each other and greet each other on the roads of any part." A true "road tribe" that has thousands of followers around the world and that, as it could not be otherwise, in Lanzarote also has its representation despite being known as the "Island of the Wind," and this is one of the great enemies of the road when driving on two wheels.

The great brotherhood "on two wheels"

The Nómadas Motorcycle Club of Lanzarote was created in the year 2000 thanks to a group of fans who decided to form an association to organize different activities and events, including the celebration of the Lanzarote Motorcycle Rally, which is now in its thirteenth edition. But the activities of the motorcycle club take place throughout the year, such as the past III Motor Festival 1st Slalom-exhibition (March 8), the Canary Islands Motorcycle Meeting (held in early June in Tenerife), as well as different barbecues and excursions, among which the trip to Tarfaya (Morocco) last September stood out.

What requirements must be met to join a motorcycle club? The first, according to the president of Nómadas, José Bruno Ramírez, is to have "genuine passion for motorcycles, that you like them a lot and enjoy them," and of course, you must have one, preferably a model with a displacement greater than 125 cubic centimeters. You usually enter the clubs through the recommendation of one of the members and a trial period is established that is variable, as well as it is required to attend regularly the meetings organized by the motorcycle club (in the case of Nómadas, they are held in the La Romana restaurant in Arrecife every Friday).

Now the next big event will take place on November 1st and 2nd, when the anniversary party of the Nómadas Motorcycle Club will be celebrated. The fun for motor enthusiasts does not rest on the Island?
