Agents of the National Police have arrested two young Albanians at the Lanzarote airport as alleged perpetrators of a crime of document forgery. The arrested are V.H., 25 years old, and E.M., 32, who presented identity cards from the Republic of Italy, which were listed as stolen. "Their real documentation was located among their belongings," the Police explain in a statement, in which they specify that the detainees had no police record.
The events were triggered after a warning from the staff of an airline, who suspected the authenticity of the documentation presented by two people who were trying to take a flight from Lanzarote to the Irish city of Dublin.
"After analyzing the documents, the agents were able to verify that both identity cards had been manipulated," the Police point out. In addition, they add that "they were listed as stolen in the police databases, which is why these people were arrested as alleged perpetrators of two crimes of document forgery."
Later, they located their real Albanian passports among their belongings. Likewise, according to the Police, they confessed to the agents that they had bought the Italian documentation on the black market.
After the corresponding report was prepared by the agents attached to the Arrecife Police Station, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
