The National Police have arrested three men of Chinese origin, aged 30, 31 and 39 years old, with no police record, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of document forgery at Lanzarote airport. They were arrested after identifying themselves with falsified Korean passports.
The events occurred when agents became aware through an airline that three citizens were trying to fly with passports of "dubious authenticity", the Police explained. The agents then went to the check-in desk to identify the three individuals, who presented Korean passports at that time. Therefore, they were transferred to police premises to verify the authenticity of these documents.
Once examined by specialists in documentoscopy, "it was found that the passports had been manipulated, not presenting the required security measures", so they were arrested and transferred to the Arrecife Police Station. Once in police custody, the three detainees admitted to being of Chinese origin.
After preparing the corresponding police report, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority. At the same time, the Local Immigration and Borders Brigade of the Arrecife Police Station initiated an expulsion procedure against the three detainees. The police intervention was carried out by agents assigned to the Border Post of the Lanzarote airport.
