The news coming from the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville has given a respite to the family that suffered a fire in their home in Argana Alta on Christmas Eve. José Daniel, the 32-year-old who had to be transferred to that health center due to the severity of his injuries, is "evolving favorably".
This was conveyed to La Voz by the Councilor for Social Services of the Arrecife City Council, Carmen Sáez, who has been in direct contact with the family during these days. "Very, very slowly, but it's going well. He is a strong and healthy boy", the mayor points out hopefully.
The father has an even better prognosis, who also remains hospitalized, although in this case at the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Gran Canaria. "He is very well. He is doing great", says the councilor.
Meanwhile, the mother, who was discharged a few days after the fire, and the rest of the children, have moved to a relative's house, while they try to fix and make their home habitable again, which was burned by the flames.
"They didn't want to take advantage of that help"
In the first days, they were staying in a hotel in Arrecife and the City Council was processing the rental of an apartment where they could settle temporarily, but in the end it will not be necessary. "We offered them a rental house, but they didn't want to take advantage of that help. They are very good people, hard-working people", highlights the councilor Carmen Sáez, explaining that they have finally chosen to accept the help of a relative, who has taken them into their home. "People are turning to them. The neighborhood, the friends...?", Sáez insists.
It should be remembered that the residents of Argana Alta have installed collection boxes in several cafes and bars to raise money and help the family, and also provided an account number at La Caixa (2100 4359 110100368360), for anyone who can make a donation.
With these funds and with the help of the City Council, which assures that it is also processing financial aid for them, the mother and one of her children are preparing a trip to visit their loved ones in the hospital at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. She will go to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where her husband is, supported these days by one of her children, while one of the brothers will go to visit José Daniel, who is hospitalized in Seville.
