The Civil Guard has carried out two important actions in Lanzarote regarding crimes related to piracy in the field of intellectual and industrial property.

According to the Armed Institute, agents attached to the Territorial Fiscal Patrol of Costa Teguise carried out several inspections this Wednesday in public establishments in the tourist area of the municipality of Teguise and, as a result of them, a series of illegal activities were discovered in a Cyber-cafe type premises located on Los Crotos street, and in another similar premises located on Avenida del Mar.

In them, both computer programs and games that lacked authorization from their owners were used and sold, violating copyright.

The agents of the Tax Service seized and intervened various materials, including eight complete computer equipment, six web cameras and up to 115 DVD discs with files of programs, movies and "pirated" network games.

An official expert attached to the Anti-Piracy Commission of the Ministry of Culture, who collaborated in these actions, has valued all this material at 69,116 euros.

The managers of the premises, A.F.O. and J.B.T., 42 and 35 years old respectively, were arrested accused of two Crimes Against Industrial and Intellectual Property, who, after giving a statement, have been released and at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, which is expected to sanction them with a high financial penalty.
