Agents of the Local Police of Tías proceeded on the night of this Sunday, July 4, to arrest Juan R.C., 22 years of age and a native of Arrecife, for his alleged participation in two robbery offenses that took place in the town of Puerto Calero, in the municipality of Yaiza.
The agents of the Local Police of Tías noticed the presence of a car on a dirt road adjacent to the LZ-2 highway. Thus, according to a statement, they went to the place to identify it, at which point "the driver threw a travel suitcase outside the vehicle and fled, being subsequently intercepted".
When searching the vehicle, various valuables were found, such as "photography and digital video cameras, a lady's bag, bank cards in the name of different people and 590 euros in cash".
Upon checking the contents of the suitcase that the driver had thrown outside the vehicle, it was found that inside he was carrying "a small safe", identical to the one used in tourist apartments, which "had been forced from its anchoring place to steal it, and later its lock had been manipulated for its opening".
The steps taken by the agents of the Local Police of Tías allowed them to know that those affected by the subtraction of said effects were preparing to file the corresponding complaint, with which they were able to determine where the alleged robbery occurred.
For this reason, the alleged perpetrator of the events was arrested and transferred to police premises where the corresponding proceedings were instructed, being able to verify that the detainee had been arrested on 14 occasions for crimes against property. With the instructed proceedings, he was transferred to the Civil Guard of Tías for the continuation of the investigations.

The young man, according to police sources, "used a large stone that he picked up from nearby gardens, with which he repeatedly hit the aforementioned telephone booth, without achieving his objective, although he caused considerable damage to said booth".
The detainee, together with the instructed proceedings, was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
