M.S.A. and O.S.R., the two defendants for the video in which a car and a motorcycle are seen making dangerous maneuvers on the Arrecife Circunvalación, will be tried on November 25. These two Arrecife residents are charged with crimes against road safety for the maneuvers that were recorded in those images.
This Wednesday both testified in the Court of Instruction number 2 of Arrecife, after the Local Police carried out the report and a procedure was initiated to hold a quick trial. Before the judge, the driver of the car from which the video was recorded did admit speeding, but not reckless driving. The investigation has determined that the car exceeded 180 kilometers per hour at the time recorded in the video. As for the one that the Local Police has identified as the alleged driver of the motorcycle, who would have traveled up to 700 meters doing the "wheelie" at an average speed of 145 kilometers per hour, the defendant denied being the one who appears in the images or that it was his motorcycle.
This defendant stated in court that he has a motorcycle of the same model and brand, but with some different aspects. He also acknowledged that he has shoes and gloves like the ones worn by the motorcyclist in the video, but argued that anyone could have those garments. However, the Prosecutor's Office has not believed his version.
This Thursday, the prosecutor has concluded his indictment and has delivered it to the parties, but there has been no agreement of conformity. Both defendants have decided not to accept the Prosecutor's account of the facts or the sentences requested, so a trial will be held, which has already been set for the 25th.
