The Civil Guard of Tías has charged a man with a crime of false reporting who may have faked the theft of his car after fleeing a police checkpoint. After investigating the events, the agents have brought what happened to the attention of the Courts, so that they can open the proceedings they deem appropriate.
As the Civil Guard explains, everything began on the morning of April 8, when the investigated reported the theft of his vehicle during that same morning. According to his complaint, the key had been stolen from him at his workplace, although he was finally able to recover the vehicle hours later.
However, after initiating investigations into this theft, the Civil Guard verified that this same person, allegedly, had avoided a citizen security control at 3 a.m. that day, "precisely in the time slot referred to by the investigated in which they had allegedly stolen that vehicle."
The agents consider that the investigated, J.A.V, of Spanish nationality, filed a false report, "by simulating a crime of theft and theft of use of a vehicle, with the alleged purpose of justifying his escape" in that control.
The Civil Guard recalls that the simulation of a crime can carry penalties ranging from 6 months to 2 years in prison, or fines ranging from 3 to 24 months, depending on the level of severity of the false crime and false accusations against third parties.
