The Civil Guard has carried out a new and important action against industrial piracy after a series of inspections in several shops and bazaar-type establishments located in a shopping center on Islas Canarias Avenue, in Costa Teguise.
This operation was carried out within the framework of fiscal services aimed at eradicating the sale to the public of diverse merchandise and counterfeit goods.
The civil guards seized nearly 6,000 electronic products, including more than 4,000 "pirated" video games for the Nintendo console, as well as a large number of digital cameras for photography and video, laptops, players, music equipment, accessories, MP-3 and MP-4 devices, CDs, DVDs, etc.?merchandise that has been deposited and pending a complete valuation.
For these acts and as those responsible for the sale of these items, the Civil Guard has arrested seven merchants, five men of Spanish nationality and two natives of India, accused of alleged crimes against intellectual and industrial property, who after giving a statement have been released pending appearance before the judicial authority when required.
More than one million euros in counterfeits in the Teguise market
On the other hand, the appraisal of the merchandise seized on October 28 in the Teguise market has already concluded, where the seized effects have been valued at 1,352,000 euros.
In that operation, thousands of textile items and accessories were seized that were imitations and replicas with brands and designs of prestigious commercial firms, with 18 merchants (15 men and 3 women) also arrested, released and accused of crimes against industrial property.
