The magistrate of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3 of Güimar proceeded this Thursday to the removal of the body of a girl of around six years old found in the waters of Tenerife that, in the absence of more conclusive forensic medical tests, could correspond, practically with complete certainty, to Olivia Gimeno, the minor who disappeared on April 27 with her sister Anna, one year old, and her father Tomás Gimeno.
According to sources from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), the body was found by the robot of the oceanographic vessel 'Ángeles Alvariño' at noon this Thursday at a depth of about 1,000 meters, about three miles from the coast of Tenerife. It was inside a sports bag tied to an anchor.
Next to them was another empty sports bag. The body was transferred to land at around 6:00 p.m. and taken to the Forensic Anatomical for removal.
Search continues for Anna and Tomás Gimeno
The oceanographic vessel 'Ángeles Alvariño' continues this Friday morning in the area where Olivia's lifeless body was found to try to find her sister Anna, who is only one year old, and her father, Tomás Gimeno.
The ship of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) is equipped with a side-scan radar and a marine robot that have been vital to find, first, a diving bottle and a duvet cover owned by Tomás and, finally, Olivia's body.
At the moment, the ship is about three nautical miles from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the same area where the last connection with Tomás' mobile phone occurred and where it has remained practically since its arrival on the island.
After the discovery of Olivia, six years old, social networks have been filled with messages of solidarity addressed to Beatriz, the mother of the girls, and her family and friends.
