The altercations that occurred in the La Santa shelter ended with 13 detainees, eleven minors and two adults, as confirmed by the Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, Marcos Bergaz.

As Bergaz explained, the arrested were transferred to the Civil Guard and National Police facilities this Tuesday to proceed with reporting them and now we are waiting to know if the action ends with an administrative or criminal offense.

"It will be the Prosecutor's Office or the Court that has to assess whether any type of precautionary measure is adopted, which may be internment in a center with judicial measures, but we are waiting," said the councilor, with respect to the arrested minors.

Regarding the detained adults, the Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo has specified that "they were in the area" and that they were former users of the shelter, although it is unknown at the moment if they also participated in the altercations.

"These are unjustifiable episodes"

As already reported, the first altercations occurred on Monday afternoon-night, when some of the 60 immigrant minors, in protest against the isolation due to the state of alarm, threw "stones" at cars of center workers and against the agents of the Local Police and the Civil Guard themselves, who came to the shelter after being alerted. Also, as La Voz has now learned, they also caused damage to the center's furniture.

In addition, as confirmed by the Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the Tinajo City Council, Yurena Cubas, two minors took the opportunity to escape from the shelter, although they later returned on their own to it.

However, new altercations occurred again this Tuesday in the center, forcing the Civil Guard and National Police to intervene. Faced with this, as explained by the Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, several of the minors ran away fleeing the facilities, although they were finally arrested.

"These are unjustifiable episodes, because one can understand the nervousness, but we all have to do our part and abide by the rules that exist," said Marcos Bergaz.
