The Civil Guard of Tías arrested a man who showed "aggressively" his refusal to wear a mask.
According to the Benemérita, the events began after the workers of a pizzeria requested the presence of the agents, since two individuals in an apparent state of intoxication were trying to force their way into the aforementioned establishment, which is prohibited with the current restrictions for the containment of Covid-19 on the island, which only allows the use of terraces.
Subsequently, one of the individuals was located by the Civil Guard in a nearby area, "showing characteristics of being under the effects of some alcoholic beverage, shouting and refusing to wear a mask, despite the fact that the patrol requested it on numerous occasions."
After informing this person that he was going to be sanctioned and after requesting that he be identified, for which he "initially resisted" according to the agents, he chose to put it on and leave the place.
However, during the same afternoon, the Civil Guard was required by some drivers, since apparently this same person was "throwing himself at vehicles, putting his life and that of other users at risk."
Once located, it was verified that it was the same man and that he was again refusing to wear a mask, so he was required on "innumerable occasions" to put it on. In this regard, the Civil Guard emphasizes that in the place where "he was, there were numerous pedestrians."
"Due to the refusal to wear a mask and putting his life and that of other road users and pedestrians at risk," he was arrested for a crime of disobedience and resistance to the agents of the authority.
