The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise arrested last Monday, July 6, a man with initials M.U.M. – 36 years old and with numerous police records for crimes against property - as alleged perpetrator of crimes of misappropriation and against road safety, for illegally keeping a vehicle that he had previously agreed to sell and later driving it without a driving license.
The investigation began on the island of Fuerteventura on June 27, when the victim reported to the Civil Guard in Corralejo that M.U.M. had kept his vehicle, a car with an estimated value of 7,000 euros.
The victim told the agents that on May 18 they had drawn up a written contract for the transfer of the vehicle with a validity of three months, where M.U.M. would sell his vehicle in exchange for a part of the profit obtained, but that nevertheless he had kept the car, had not sold it and did not return it despite his requests.
Location and arrest
With the data provided and subsequent police investigations, the Civil Guard located by telephone the alleged perpetrator of the described crime, known to the agents in Lanzarote for his numerous police records, warning him to appear at the police station of the Main Post of Costa Teguise with the vehicle in question.
However, on the 6th, M.U.M. went to the Civil Guard premises driving the complainant's vehicle, and the agents verified that he did not have a valid driving license, since it had been permanently withdrawn by judicial decision, so he was immediately arrested for crimes of misappropriation and against road safety.
The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the corresponding Court in charge of Arrecife, and the Civil Guard returned the aforementioned vehicle to its legitimate owner on the island of Fuerteventura.
