The Civil Guard of the main post of Tías arrested on the 25th a person, with initials A.C. and foreign nationality, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, "for being caught while selling narcotics on public roads", near the Atlantic Center, a well-known leisure spot in Puerto del Carmen that was recently at the center of controversy.
The Civil Guard established a surveillance device in the vicinity of this leisure center in the tourist town after learning of the "increase in the influx of consumers and alleged buyers of narcotics" in this area, as explained in a statement. Precisely, earlier this month, the CC spokesperson in the Tías City Council, Mame Fernández, had warned about the "start of prostitution and the alleged exchange of drugs" in this area.
With this device established by the Civil Guard, the agents intended to "eradicate" the "possible points of sale" of drugs in Puerto del Carmen and in this specific area. Thus, they managed to arrest a person near the Atlantic Center from whom they seized several sealed plastic wrappers containing cocaine "in a format ready for sale", according to the same sources. Specifically, they found 6.5 grams of cocaine.
In addition, they seized 245 euros, "presumably from the trafficking of said substance", as well as several mobile phones. The detainee, along with the seized effects, was placed at the disposal of the Arrecife Duty Court.
