Timbayba Street in Titerroy has trembled again this Monday, two weeks after a young man died when the roof of his house collapsed on him. Since then, the house has been sealed and uninhabited, but the dilapidated structure has once again alerted neighbors and emergency services, as another part of the roof has fallen.

On Monday afternoon, three fire trucks and a civil protection vehicle had blocked the street and evacuated the neighbors of the two adjoining houses, also notifying the owner of the house, who after the event that cost her son's life had to move.

Around 7:00 p.m., the arrival of a technician from the Arrecife City Council was expected to assess the damage and adopt the appropriate decisions to try to remedy the situation, guaranteeing the safety of nearby homes.

Tragedy

It was on July 28 when tragedy struck this street in Titerroy. It was early in the morning when the roof of one of the rooms, where a 38-year-old man was sleeping, collapsed. When the fire team began the clearing work, they found his lifeless body. "He had several head and chest traumas and had ingested sand while trying to breathe," said Esteban García, manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, at the time.

The deceased's mother and cousin were also in the home, but neither of them was injured, except for "a small cut on one of the young man's legs when trying to reach the rubble area to help his cousin, but he was immediately removed from the scene."

The collapse may have been caused by the poor condition of the house, and already on the day of the incident, the Security and Emergency Consortium indicated that they feared that there could be another collapse of the roofs of the adjoining rooms.
