An employee of a restaurant in Costa Teguise was mugged this Friday night by two young men who grabbed him by the neck, hit him and threw him to the ground, managing to steal the bag he was carrying with the day's takings.

The events took place at around 11.30 pm this Friday on the Las Cucharas promenade in Costa Teguise. The restaurant worker was walking along the promenade when two young men in jeans and caps assaulted him in the middle of the night in a place "with little lighting" according to the owner of the restaurant to La Voz. The young men grabbed him by the neck, hit him and threw him to the ground, managing to take all the money from the day's takings. "The boy had to go to the hospital where he was treated, fortunately he has a minor injury report", said the owner.

"Once the incident occurred, we called the Civil Guard and they told us that they did not have staff to assist us and make the complaint, so we had to contact the Local Police who did come to the scene". "This morning we went to the Civil Guard Barracks in Costa Teguise and they were able to assist us, in addition to being very correct and friendly and the agents of the Judicial body are in charge of the entire investigation", explains the owner.

The owner of the restaurant complains about the lack of surveillance in Costa Teguise. "The robbery was on a Friday at 11.30 pm, in an area with many tourists. More lighting and security is needed, I know that the agents are not to blame because they cannot multiply, but they should be given more resources by the governments", he says.
