"We are still impressed." Says Javier, a passenger on a Binter flight that covered the Lanzarote-Gran Canaria route this Thursday afternoon. His plane departed from Guacimeta airport at 5:00 p.m. and 15 minutes after being in the air, suddenly, the propeller of the right engine stopped.
"A loud bang was heard and we realized that the propeller had stopped. I remained silent, waiting for them to give us information," Javier told La Voz, still scared. At first, the flight attendants warned the passengers that they were going through a turbulent zone, but immediately afterwards the commander clarified the situation.
"The commander said that the right engine had stalled, but that the left one was working. He told us not to worry, that we were going to land in Fuerteventura because that is what the protocol indicates," explained Javier, who says that "given the skill and audacity of the pilot" he managed to land "without even making a sudden movement."
"The pilot received congratulations from everyone, crew and passengers. I was impressed with his skill, because at the moment the propeller stopped, the plane was moving a lot. However, he managed to control it," he said.
The passengers landed in Fuerteventura and at 6:15 p.m. they were waiting to be relocated on other flights to Gran Canaria. The Civil Guard went to the Fuerteventura airport to check the plane and determine what could have happened to stop one of the propellers.
