A Russian citizen, identified as A.K., 29 years old, was found dead last Saturday on the shore of a beach in Puerto del Carmen, on the tourist coast of the municipality of Tías, after receiving at least five stab wounds, according to sources from the Civil Guard.
The body of the young Russian, who had been a resident of Lanzarote for several years, was discovered around 00:00 on Saturday night, in a secluded area of the aforementioned beach, by the night watchman of the Hotel San Antonio, who alerted the State Security Forces.
Immediately, a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) went to the place where, upon arrival, the victim still maintained his vital signs. However, the health personnel could do nothing to save the life of the Russian citizen, who died a few seconds after the resuscitation maneuvers began because he had lost a lot of blood.
At the time of his discovery, the body had several wounds and at least the impact of five stab wounds. The judicial authority ordered the removal of the body and its transfer to the forensic morgue, where the autopsy is scheduled to be performed this Monday.
The first indications are that the victim tried to defend himself from his attacker or attackers, with whom he apparently had a violent fight, since he had superficial cuts on his hands.
The deceased had been living in Arrecife for several years, where he had married a compatriot with whom he had two children, and had been working in a hotel in Puerto del Carmen for some time.
Government sources confirmed that the Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the alleged homicide while the Judicial Authority has decreed the summary secrecy.
Since the appearance of the body, the Armed Institute has not stopped investigating, meticulously inspecting the place of the discovery and trying to contact any witness who could provide more clues about the event.
For the moment, all the circumstances surrounding the death are being studied, although it will be the autopsy that will determine exactly the qualities of the murder weapon and other data of interest such as the wounds presented or the true causes of death.
The Civil Guard does not rule out the possibility that the motive for the homicide was based on a settling of accounts, although the involvement of any organized gang is not confirmed either.
