The Civil Guard of Tías arrested two men, aged 34 and 32, on January 31st, both with numerous police records, as alleged perpetrators of a robbery with force in a business in Puerto del Carmen, which they accessed after forcing the security bars of the access door. One of the arrested had left prison on a prison leave and is accused of having committed other crimes since then.
After receiving a notice of a possible robbery through the Central Operations Coordination of the Las Palmas Command, the agents went to the establishment, observing two people inside. Once the perimeter was marked off by the deployed agents and there was no other possible exit, the arrest of these people was carried out.
Outside the establishment, a closed metal box, the removable tray of a cash register, four television remote controls and cash were found, as well as a backpack with tools allegedly used by the alleged perpetrators of the events. In addition to the aforementioned objects, a television was still inside, but outside its initial location, so it was ready to be stolen.
Wanted for previous events
The Civil Guard emphasizes that on January 4th, one of the detainees had been identified as the alleged perpetrator of the robbery with force, although his arrest was not achieved at that time. In the investigation carried out then, it was verified that this person was enjoying a six-day prison leave, which had been granted to him since December 25th, 2020, not having returned until his arrest.
In addition to the robbery with force, he is also accused of a crime against road safety and another of assault against an agent of the authority committed against members of the Local Police of San Bartolomé, who, when trying to identify him when they located him driving a motor vehicle on public roads outside the hours authorized by the curfew motivated by the health emergency of Covid-19.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 3 of Arrecife, on duty.
