The fire apparently occurred in the fryer of the premises' kitchen, with access from Austria Street. The establishment's cook suffered first-degree burns on 27% of his body, and a Civil Guard officer was affected by smoke inhalation. Both had to be attended to by the Red Cross ambulance that had traveled to the establishment.
Although the officer was stabilized at the scene after receiving oxygen, the worker had to be transported by ambulance to the Local Clinic of Puerto del Carmen for medical personnel to assess the burns.
From the beginning, officers of the Local Police of Tías and the Civil Guard went to the scene to control access for the fire extinguishing vehicles. Shortly after, several units of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Cabildo and Volunteer Firefighters of Tías arrived.
