The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of the Government of the Canary Islands (Cecoes) 112 has given a false alarm about a supposed plane crash in Gran Canaria. At around 4:00 p.m. it published this tweet on its Twitter account: "Canarias Control confirms the fall into the sea of a plane two miles off the coast of #Gran Canaria at the height of Jinámar. The number of passengers is unknown."
The media throughout the country have echoed this news, alarmed by the alleged plane crash. However, minutes later 112 has re-published a tweet, denying this information: "Regarding the possible plane crash, SAR, Air Control and #GES helicopter confirm that it is a tugboat pulling a boat."

Later, 112 in the Canary Islands has re-published another comment, in which it assured that the resources had flown over the coast of Gran Canaria and confirmed that there was no plane crash. "It is a tugboat with a boat", 112 insisted then.
According to the newspaper La Provincia, what has been located is a tugboat pulling a boat in the shape of an airplane, which has generated confusion.
