Teguise celebrated the birth of the Child Jesus in the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Villa as every December 24, where the Rancho Chico in the Living Portal performed the religious staging before the presence of many neighbors and visitors who came to La Villa to witness one of the oldest traditions that are still preserved in our country.

After the Archangel announced the birth of the Child Jesus, and once the shepherds went to the main altar starting their songs, the Little Angels awaited them in the living nativity scene recreated for the occasion, impressing the attendees with their traditional songs and verses of adoration in a magical event like the one narrated since time immemorial, it was the turn of the Rancho de Pascuas that entered the Church singing the "corrido" making the attendees' hair stand on end with the songs they perform to announce the birth of the child Jesus, to then do the "salto" or "besapié" of the shepherds to Jesus. As is known, it is the only Rancho in the Canary Islands that performs this dance and that also carries it out with departure from the Church touring the surroundings of the Plaza de Los Leones to return again to the Church and continue with their songs of adoration and joy with the support of both the Rancho Chico and the attendees to witness this peculiar way of experiencing Christmas in the old capital of Lanzarote.

During the staging, the Rancho de Pascuas has for years given its highest distinction to people who have roots and involvement in the celebration of Christmas in Teguise. This year they wanted Francisco José Hernández Díaz to take said recognition that is very important for the members of the group. As the president of the Rancho, Adrián Villalba, explained during the delivery, "Francisco has been a fundamental part in ensuring that this ancestral celebration that is celebrated in our town continues to endure over time." Villalba also pointed out that Francisco has been selflessly collaborating for more than 20 years in the assembly of the living portal that is installed on the altar of the Church together with his uncle Benjamín, who was also recognized." Therefore, the Rancho de Pascuas encourages them to continue with this act of solidarity to jointly maintain this day together with the Rancho Chico as one of the most special in the Christmas season.

Once the distinction was given, the president of the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise thanked for the monitoring that has been done of the group's work throughout the year and the effort that each of its members makes to try to ensure that the traditions of our ancestors continue to penetrate and permeate the generations to come.
