Last Wednesday night, the great family of the 'Los Campesinos Folk Group' celebrated the '34th Farmer's Festival', framed within the festivities in honor of San Ginés. An edition of the festival dedicated to the marine and peasant origins in which the audience present was enthusiastic and did not stop applauding their traditional songs and dances.

A festival dedicated to all those men and women who had to work tirelessly and also emigrate to support their families and give them a better life. A celebration that began with a reminder for Gregorio Fuentes, born in the same Charco and descendant of fishermen and farmers. He and his family also emigrated to Cuba.

In this edition dedicated to delving into the 'Origin', they have kept very present the marine and peasant woman dedicating the song 'Women of the Coast' to her, also to the goatherd, to that man who established an intense relationship with his cattle, to whom they dedicated an isa.

The Origins were very present with the Sorondongo, one of the most important traditional dances for the Canarians to which Pedro Luzardo, the oldest member of Los Campesinos, gave voice. Nor could 'La Malagueña' be missing, a representative dance for the Campesina 'La Saranda' family, created by the founder of the Association, Juan Brito Martín.

The second part of the festival featured the performance of the famous Tenerife singer, José Manuel Ramos, who presented his latest album entitled 'Return to the Origin', a project in which the singer recovers the oldest styles and forms of Canarian folklore. An album in which the legacy of an entire town is collected, through home recordings that he has been able to rescue from singers, some family members and neighbors of Punta del Hidalgo. Among them, his grandfather Manuel, his mother Olga Ramos or his great-uncle Sebastián.

On this occasion, José Manuel had the reference of Canarian music, Fabiola Socas, singer, composer and researcher, as well as a woman who has been fighting all her life for the dignity, recognition and visibility of the cultural legacy of the Canary Islands. As soon as she took the stage, the public received the singer with great affection and prolonged applause.

José Manuel Ramos also had a great team of five professional musicians who were supporting him during his performance with the chords of the guitar, accordion, bass, violin and timple, interpreting the most representative of traditional music, also including some duets that were highly applauded by the public.

The 'Los Campesinos Folk Group', which next year will celebrate its 60th anniversary, advanced what its project will be called 'Return to the Origin'.
