The 33rd Canary Islands Music Festival arrived at the Cueva de Los Verdes on Sunday night, with the duo composed of violinist Irina Peña and pianist Ignacio Clemente. In the concert, the two young musicians offered a careful musical selection, and the complicity between them made the public enjoy from the first minute in which the first melodies began to sound.
The performance began with the 'Sonata for violin and piano in G minor L140', by Claude Debussy (1862-1918). The program continued with another sonata by the composer Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). Both Peña and Clemente took great care of each of the chosen works, making references to both their origin and their author, thus providing viewers with more enriching information about them.
The concert had no pause and continued with a habanera by Maurice Ravel to give way to the 'Spanish Popular Suite', by Manuel de Falla (1876-1946), which included El Paño Moruno, Nana, Canción, Polo, Asturiana and Jota. The public rewarded them with prolonged applause returning to the stage, at the insistence of these, then interpreting 'Nana de Sevilla', harmonized by Federico García Lorca. Thus they put the end point to the concert that left a very good taste in the mouth.
