Lawyers from Lanzarote have gathered this Monday in front of the Arrecife Courts in defense of the legal aid. The gathering had been convened by the Lanzarote Bar Association to celebrate the Day of Free Justice and Legal Aid with the rest of the bar associations in Spain.
"One hundred and twenty-five legal professionals in our association dedicate themselves every day to giving all their knowledge and all their strength so that citizens with fewer economic resources are not left without their legitimate right to go to Justice in equal conditions," said the dean of the Lanzarote Bar Association, Carlos Viña.
Viña has highlighted the consequences that have been suffered for a year and a half "at all levels of society" due to the pandemic caused by Covid, "causing an almost complete standstill at certain times." "Terrible moments in which, like other essential sectors of society, the Free Justice and Legal Aid Service of our Association did not stop working for a single moment, making the motto 24 x 365 effective", he added.
"The economic situation, which is becoming more complicated every day, has led to a considerable increase in requests for the service, a situation that we have tried to solve on a daily basis with the greatest possible dedication, both from the staff in charge of the administrative work and then from the professionals in the legal part," said the dean of the Lanzarote Bar Association.
Finally, Carlos Viña wanted to convey to the public "the daily dedication and effort that 124 Legal Aid professionals from the Bar Association make every day so that their rights are defended with the greatest possible efficiency, so that we can say that in Lanzarote Justice is within everyone's reach."
