The Government of the Canary Islands has presented this Friday the gold and silver plaques to 19 establishments in Lanzarote, which are attached to the "Gastronomy Improvement Plan of the Canary Islands" and have successfully completed the audit and training process, taught by Hecansa professionals. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands Government, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente Armas, who presided over this event at El Fondeadero, in Puerto del Carmen.
Of the 19 establishments, 6 have obtained the gold category and 13 the silver category. The rest continue the process, waiting to receive this recognition from the Vice-Ministry of Tourism. The Deputy Minister explained that this plan aims to increase the overall quality of catering establishments in the Canary Islands, improving the product, service and management of the attached restaurants.
This project combines personalized advice in each establishment, with continuous training in different areas such as cooking, customer service, food safety, and management, among others. Thus, once the catering establishment expresses its intention to join the Improvement Plan, it receives a visit from Hecansa technicians, who assess the various areas of the business, and offer improvement recommendations and advice on aspects such as decoration, preparation of menus, translation of the gastronomic offer, among others.
The Gastronomy Improvement Plan of the Canary Islands is composed of a series of actions aimed at a specific segment of the hotel industry in order to improve the quality of the product and customer service of the establishments located in the municipalities that voluntarily adhere to this project.
The presentation of these gold and silver plaques was also attended by the General Director of Planning and Tourism Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rita Hernández, the manager of Hecansa, Pedro Calero, as well as the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, and the Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Francisco Fabelo.
