Next Friday, February 10, the Costa Teguise Tourism Marketing Plan will be publicly presented, a tourism projection work whose implementation aims to boost the local economy, which has declined in recent times. The document includes the diagnosis made a few weeks ago in a seminar in which the University of Las Palmas collaborated, and aims to make Costa Teguise the best tourist destination in the Canary Islands.

Next Friday, the Hotel Beatriz will witness the staging of the Costa Teguise Marketing Plan, a project that was born from the collaboration between technicians from the Inerza company and experts from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, such as Sergio Moreno and Héctor Fernández, in order to return Costa Teguise to the prominence it has lost in recent years.

The absence of complementary offers, the proliferation of all-inclusive, unfinished infrastructures that give a feeling of marginality, and the incompatibility of many resident beds with tourist beds, have been hindering the development of the area.

The Marketing Plan analyzes the impact that the upcoming interventions of the Tourism Excellence Plan, now about to begin its 2006 annuity, will have on the tourism promotion of Costa Teguise. The Marketing Plan includes recommendations on new complementary leisure offers, such as a convention center, theme parks of different kinds, a marina or a nautical station.

According to the Tourism Councilor of the Teguise City Council, Alfredo Cabrera, the Plan speaks of weaknesses, strengths and slogans, and its budget should be implemented as soon as possible. In fact, the City Council has already commissioned the design of the new tourist website.

The idea is to make Costa Teguise the best tourist destination in the Canary Islands again, making it once again have incomparable environmental conditions, infrastructures, maximum security, large, green and landscaped areas, and spectacular cleanliness. In short, a document to dream about in which the Tourism officials of the City Council, the Cabildo and the Autonomous Government will have to get involved.

Tourism agents, tour operators, politicians and the media will witness on Friday the analysis of the state of execution of the Tourism Excellence Plan, which now begins its 2006 annuity, with four-year investments until 2008. The presentation will also discuss the rehabilitation project of the Costa Teguise coastline, which already has funding in its section between Teguise Playa and Las Cucharas.

Currently, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen are projected as the tourist centers with the greatest economic growth on the island of Lanzarote, while Costa Teguise has fallen dangerously behind in recent years.
