The film animation company Anima Kitchent Canarias, SME of the year in the province of Las Palmas

The Lanzarote-based company Carnes y Embutidos Chacón has received the award for Training and Employment for expanding its workforce, especially indefinitely and with training.

The company Anima Kitchent Canarias, dedicated to 3D and 2D animation production, has today received the SME of the Year 2022 Award from the province of Las Palmas, an award granted by Banco Santander, the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria and the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, in collaboration with the Chamber of Spain and La Provincia, Diario de Las Palmas. 

The general manager of the company, Agustín Arocha, was in charge of collecting the award, in an event that was held at the headquarters of the Chamber and was attended by the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, Luis Padrón; the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle; the territorial director of Banco Santander in the Canary Islands, Beatriz Martínez Ruíz; the general director of Commerce and Consumption of the Government of the Canary Islands, David Mille Pomposo; the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso; and the manager of La Provincia Diario de Las Palmas, Jaime Abella Fernández.  

The jury has especially valued Anima Kitchent Canarias for being a young company that is already standing out in the production of high-level international projects, in addition to having generated employment in a new sector where they have been pioneers in the Canary Islands. They also have a specific international production team with staff created in this same year. 

 

Carnes y Embutidos Chacón wins the award for Training and Employment 

In addition to the provincial award, four awards have been granted in the categories of Training and Employment; Internationalization; Digitalization and Innovation; and Sustainable Company.  

The award for Training and Employment has been granted to the Lanzarote-based company Carnes y Embutidos Chacon, which produces food products, especially meat products, which despite the consequences of the pandemic has increased its workforce, mainly with permanent contracts, with continuous training for its workers adapted to the labor needs of the staff. It also participates in Dual Training projects. 

The award for Internationalization has been granted to the company 2Coders Studio, dedicated to custom software development that is responsible for providing solutions to other companies to digitize their processes. It has been valued that they have integrated an Export Manager into the team who has closed contracts with clients from different countries such as Italy, the USA or the United Kingdom, with most of their invoice coming from international markets

The award for Digitalization and Innovation has gone to the company Byond, dedicated to the development and application of intelligent continuous pavements, a pioneering company in the development of innovative products, which in these last three years has developed sustainable and environmentally friendly products, using different waste in these processes, managing to patent revolutionary products in the sector.  

And, finally, the award for Sustainable Company has been for El Agricultor Alegre, dedicated to the production, packaging and marketing of bananas, which has been valued for its great commitment to the environment, with responsible waste treatment and the use of photovoltaic panels to be self-sufficient, ecological production and environmental certifications.  

 

National SME Award of the Year 2022 

The company Anima Kitchent Canarias will compete for the National SME Award of the Year 2022, which will be chosen from the winners of each province. The name will be known in the first months of 2023, in a great event that will be held in Madrid.  

Likewise, the winners of the awards will also compete in the national final in their respective categories, where the companies that have stood out for their Internationalization actions, their Training and Employment or Innovation and Digitalization policies and those that have implemented more sustainability measures will be chosen.  

Banco Santander and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain created the SME Award of the Year in 2017 to recognize the performance and work of small and medium-sized companies as creators of employment and wealth. In addition, it aims to give visibility to the daily effort of entrepreneurs who contribute with their effort to the economic development of the territory. The award is aimed at small and medium-sized companies with less than 250 employees and with a turnover of less than 50 million euros. 

Since 2017, the year of its launch, 7,436 SMEs have already participated in this contest throughout Spain.
