Bodega de Santiago has been awarded this year in the sixth Heineken “Qué Bueno Canarias” contest, as the best Spanish or seasonal cuisine Restaurant in the Canary Islands. This modality rewards the restaurant that best respects the integrity and qualities of the seasonal product, while innovating in the dishes it presents.
“The important thing is that when a client wants a certain product, they can taste that product without losing a gram of its essence in the flavors, but also that the dish surprises them by providing unique culinary contrasts”, highlights Juan Carlos Monzón, owner of the restaurant.
For Juan Carlos there are several keys that explain this recognition, "hard and constant work, and communication with his clients".
We believe that we have a great relationship with those who decide to come and spend some time in our house, communication with our diners is fundamental, we always innovate by asking what the final result is, the best of our criticisms are given to us by sincere clients. We want to thank them all. This relationship with customers is what leads us to differentiate ourselves in the kitchen.
Likewise, Juan Carlos Monzón highlights that the secret of his business is the team, “the professionals who make things work”, from the kitchen to the table, and the staff of La Bodega de Santiago is one of the main assets of the business. "This award belongs to all of us who put our shoulder to the wheel day by day in this business that does not understand holidays or bridges”, Monzón concludes.
A demanding contest
The sixth edition of the regional awards “Qué Bueno Canarias” has become a classic of cuisine in our archipelago as it is the only contest that brings together more than 150 professionals from the sector, including restaurant and hotel restaurateurs. The demanding selection process is done through an initial screening where between 4 and 5 restaurants are nominated, to finally extract the best of the best. And in this case, La Bodega de Santiago has brought a recognition of maximum prestige to Lanzarote.
La Bodega de Santiago opened in February 2005, this month it celebrates its 12th anniversary and has been making a name for itself first in Lanzarote, and then with prestige in the Canary Islands, not in vain this conejero restaurant has been a finalist in this demanding contest for three consecutive years.
A rising sector
Finally, from La Bodega de Santiago they consider that "the sector in Lanzarote has acquired an impressive level, today on our island you can eat phenomenally in countless restaurants, and this level is serving for each of us to improve, it is a healthy competition that is taking the sector to very high levels of excellence… so I also congratulate the sector as a whole and the good work of our professionals that is often not taken into account”.
