Estrella Galicia, the beer brand of Hijos de Rivera, is looking for the best beer pullers in the Canary Islands with the celebration of the V Beer Pulling Championship, which this year will take place for the first time in Lanzarote.
The Amura Restaurant Terrace located in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, will host this competition, in which participants from different parts of the Canary Islands will demonstrate their passion for Beer Culture and will fight to be worthy of the title of 'Best Beer Puller of the Canary Islands' of this edition. The first two classified will compete with the rest of those selected in other regional editions, to compete in the Grand National Final of the V National Beer Pulling Championship, which will be held in Madrid in 2018.
The candidates for the award are representatives of the hotel establishments that registered through the website enabled by Estrella Galicia.
With this new edition, Estrella Galicia reinforces its objective of promoting the tradition and spreading beer culture among the general public, as well as rewarding the professionalism and work of hoteliers as a fundamental part of the distribution chain of Hijos de Rivera products.
The prizes and the jury
The five finalists of this Canary elimination phase will take their weight in beer and a cash prize. The winner will receive 600 euros, the runner-up, 400, and the other three accessits, 150 euros. All of them will also be given a diploma accrediting their classification, reserving, at the same time, for the champion and the runner-up the direct classification for the National Draught Championship, covering their travel and maintenance expenses.
A jury composed of experts in draught, hospitality and gastronomy will be responsible for assessing the quality, efficiency and speed of service, as well as the knowledge of beer culture demonstrated by the candidates for the title. In addition, the activity of each participant will be analyzed and scored, taking into account parameters such as the style, technique and way of pulling the beer, the finish, the creaminess of the foam and the cleanliness and presentation.
