The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, has reported that island public transport will be free while the coronavirus alert lasts. The measure adopted responds to the recommendations regarding the use of money.
"Public transport is an essential service and in a situation like the one we are experiencing, of limitation of movements, whoever uses it does so out of a real need", Corujo pointed out.
"Faced with this situation, we are initiating the administrative procedure to allow transport to be free while this emergency lasts", pointed out the Councilor for Transport of the Cabildo, Nerea Santana Santana.
The president of the Cabildo recalled that the fight against the coronavirus is a collective responsibility and affects aspects of our daily lives such as paying when getting on public transport.
"We cannot lower our guard. Out of solidarity with the weakest and most vulnerable, we have to ensure that this situation lasts as short as possible and affects the smallest number of people possible. I want to remind you again of the importance of following the instructions of those responsible for health and that we all contribute our share of effort to end this crisis as soon as possible", she concluded.
