Two readers of La Voz have denounced the "breakage" of several pipes in the surroundings and inside their home located in the Atlántico Rubicón residential complex in Playa Blanca. In this line, they have assured that this breakdown has meant that they have had to pay up to 782.6 euros in water expenses. Specifically, 561.09 euros correspond to last December 2023 and 221.51 euros to this past month of April 2024.
According to both, all residents in this complex in Playa Blanca have had to "pay double the money. Each owner pays for their own consumption and also for the loss of water in the streets," they stressed.
The couple of owners of one of the houses has detailed the "lack of water" with which they have had to live since they bought the apartment last year. "There are broken pipes in the streets of the complex and "in half a year there were more than 6,300 cubic meters," they stressed.
Both have complained about the "poor condition" in which these pipes are. "All the water pipes are old and broken, and even the holes are in the streets of the complex and on private properties," they stressed. In addition, they have underlined the responsibility of the developer in the face of the problem. "The main water meter belongs to Atlantico Homes," they added.
The developer has claimed the money from Canal Gestión
Both have criticized that "no one takes responsibility" for the breakdown. "Neither the developer Atlántico Homes nor Canal Gestión are interested in it," they have made clear. In this line, they have assured that in January, the developer claimed from Canal Gestión the return of the money from some of the invoices to the owners and that it is waiting for these refunds to be made effective. Months ago, after the first contacts with both companies, Canal Gestión "refused to comment on the matter" and the letters they sent to Atlantico Homes "remained unanswered," they revealed.
The couple has assured that there is an "agreement" between the two companies, to make the "cost of water leaks charged to the account of the buyers of the homes. All this, at the maximum price," according to both. The two have concluded that it is also a "financial scandal", without forgetting the damage to the environment that this type of breakdown entails. "Water leakage is a huge environmental scandal!" they commented indignantly.
