A neighbor has contacted La Voz to make public her sadness and indignation at the hit-and-run of her dog, which was run over in Órzola by a vehicle that was traveling "at high speed" and then left the scene leaving the animal "agonizing on the road". This is her letter:
"That morning he woke me up with a kiss and snuggled on my chest, innocent of him, he had less than an hour to live.
Jack was not my dog, he was our son. My husband, Jack and I formed a family, we shared trips, excursions, he was a very happy dog, always together.
They took your life that Sunday, May 26. It wasn't even 8:30 in the morning. I took him to the salt flats next to the house, and in a few seconds he disappeared from my side.
I took the car and went to look for him. Not even ten minutes had passed when I found you in Jaime's arms. I thought he was giving you affection when he told me you had been run over. I freaked out. A car at high speed ran you over. According to witnesses, it was impossible not to have seen him. If you know Órzola, the main street that leads to the pier is a wide street with a lot of visibility. If you don't see a white dog on a black road, it's because you weren't doing things right. The worst thing is that he didn't even stop, he left him agonizing on the road.
He was still alive Thanks Jaime for picking him up from the asphalt. He died in our arms. Since then my life is constant sadness and pain. I loved Jack, I will never see that little face that looked at me with so much love again.
This whole writing is a reflection for all those people who do not comply with the speed limits. A dog is a living being and has as much right to life as any human being, and if unfortunately you have an unfortunate mishap, help him.
To my dear and beloved Jack, always in our hearts".
